Afrikaans
Afrikaans, the language which originated in Africa mainly from Dutch, Malay and African languages is the third most widely spoken language in which South Africans express their first words, live life to the fullest and breathe their last. Afrikaans is a national asset. It is an important source of knowledge and of empowerment. That is why our department is home to all varieties of Afrikaans.
All the courses offered by the department are open to students of all faculties. Our AFRN130 group will be split into two groups, the one group will cater specifically for law students and the other group will cater for students from all faculties. To major in Afrikaans & Nederlands you have to accumulate a total of at least 128 credits from the following modules:
Afrikaans 130 (16c) Inleidende Kortkuns en Taal Daar is drie verpligte komponente, Kortverhale, Digkuns en Taalvaardigheid en nog twee word gekies uit Regstekste, Teksontleding, Skeppende Skryfwerk, Afrikaanse en/of Nederlandse Kultuur, Taalkunde (Linguistiek) en Taalherkoms
Afrikaans 150 (16c) Media en Kultuur Daar is drie verpligte komponente, Prosa, Drama-Media en Afrikaanse en/of Nederlandse Media en Kultuur en nog twee word gekies uit Regstekste, Teksontleding, Skeppende Skryfwerk, Taalkunde (Linguistiek) en Taalvaardigheid.
