Ramdaz, a music duo featuring a UKZN student, Vishekh Ramdaas, and his brother, Vikshay, has made it into the Top 5 on the East Coast Radio charts with a new single and lyric video.

UKZN student Vishekh Ramdaas (24) and his brother, Vikshay (28), have teamed up to produce a song titled Won’t You that is featuring on the East Coast Radio Top 40 countdown.

Vishekh is currently completing his degree in Music and Marketing at the University.

The duo, known as Ramdaz, used the COVID-19 pandemic to push their creative musical talents.

Their single, released in October, has been climbing the charts, sharing the limelight with the likes of Black Coffee, Sam Smith, and Harry Styles.

Said Vishekh: ‘Pretty much everyone at some stage has or will experience the feeling of wanting someone to “come back” and this is what Won’t You is about. Whether you are stranded all by yourself waiting for help or just sitting alone in your room, it is totally up to the listener to interpret. Every single person has their own unique experiences, and the single is about that journey.’

Apart from writing and composing their own music, Ramdaz decided to conceptualise and design their single artwork and produce their very first lyric video. The eye-catching lyric video is a visual experience, depicting an encompassing narrative from the future of space travel.

The pair arrived on the local music landscape in 2017, promising fans big things.

‘We’re happy people like Won’t You and really so grateful to be able to make music and share it with the world. There is so much amazing music out there and to be in the Top 5 on East Coast Radio is the craziest thing. Thank you everyone who has supported our music so far,’ said Vishekh.

  • Their song, being played on radio stations all around South Africa, Is currently at number 4 on ECR’s Top 40 Music chart.
